Hideki Kinoshita, otherwise known as "Kino", an Ivy League graduate and engineering consultant from New York, NY who happens to be a marathon addict. With no prior competitive running history, Kino was inspired to take up running after cheering on friends at the 2007 NYC Marathon. The next year, he ran his first full marathon at the age of 29, by completing the 2008 Yonkers Marathon just outside of New York City. Less than four years later, this Marathon Maniac ran his 100th total marathon distance race or longer at the 2012 Comrades Marathon 56 miler in Durban, South Africa. Later that same year, Kino completed the 50 States Marathon journey by finishing the 2012 Honolulu Marathon in Hawaii. Another year later, Kino finished his 50sub4 quest of running a sub-4 hour marathon in all 50 states of America, by finishing the 2013 Vermont City Marathon in Burlington in a time of 3:28:09.

Kino is currently attempting to run a sub-3:30 marathon in all 50 states and is halfway towards that goal, with 25 states remaining. He is one of the founders of the Marathon Globetrotters running club for marathoners who are avid international travelers and aspire to run marathons in different countries. He has finished a marathon or ultra in 12 countries on six different continents. He only has Antarctica remaining for his Seven Continents Marathon goal. He has also run in four of the 10 Canadian Provinces.

Kino also aspires to run a sub-3:10 marathon to qualify for the Boston Marathon and complete an Ironman distance triathlon. He owns a personal best marathon time of 3:15:12, a 100 mile (160.93 km) personal best time of 23:27:28, and a 24 hour ultra-marathon personal record distance of 104.79 miles (168.64 km). In seven years since his marathon debut, Kino has completed 192 marathons and ultras, along with three triathlons.

After becoming a volunteer for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), Kino found his calling as a charity runner by raising over $86,000 for PanCAN, along with six other charities: Back on My Feet (BoMF), the American Cancer Society (ACS), the WTC Health Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Team Rubicon, The Boston Foundation, and OneFund Boston, through his participation in endurance events. GQ Japan, New York Magazine, New York Daily News, The Sacramento Bee, The Denver Post, MarketWatch,, Digg,, & USA Track and Field have all published articles highlighting Kino's charitable running achievements. He has not quit and continues to run marathons and ultras to support and fundraise for these underrepresented charities.

Kino's passion for competing in races is infectious as he encourages those around him to take up the sport of long distance running, push their own physical and mental boundaries, and to take up charity fundraising. This attribute has led to the rise of the term "Kino's Fault" in hashtag form as #kinosfault. You can connect with him on various social networks by looking him up @kinosfault.
